PRIZE-GIVING PROGRAMME FOR ESSAY COMPETITION ON SURAH AL-AHZAAB

In the event of the Seerat-Un-Nabi (s.a.w) of the year 2008, The Muhyi-ud-Din organised an Essay Competition on Surah Al-Ahzaab, Chapter 33 of the Holy Quran. By the Grace of Allah, many of our brothers and sisters participated in this first special competition. Thus, on the 11th May 2008, a spiritual gathering was organised in the North of Mauritius (Grand Gaube & Pamplemousses Garden) to expound further on the value of the Surah Al-Ahzaab in the Holy Quran, and the merits of each essay received, through the efforts of each participant. The programme was first started in Grand-Gaube by a speech of the Muhyi-ud-Din on the favours of Allah pouring down upon us. Much Zikr-é-Ilaahi (Remembrance of Allah) was performed only for the pleasure of Allah. At Pamplemousses, the programme was followed by a Telawat Quran (Recitation of the Holy Quran) and an Urdu Poem. Afterwards the Muhyi-ud-Din made a brief commentary on the Surah Al-Ahzaab, explaining how Allah is always on the side of His Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), how He saved his honour from being tarnished when the Arabs calumniated him with the fact that he married the divorced wife of his adopted son and companion Zaid (r.a). The Holy Quran clearly stipulated that Almighty Allah Himself married the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), thus removing the blame that was leveled on His Prophet (s.a.w). Furthermore he explained on the Hypocrites mentioned in this Chapter, how they behaved with the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).

At the beginning of this Surah itself, Allah told His Prophet (s.a.w) to follow the path of Allah only and not to obey the non-believers and the hypocrites. Allah wants His Messenger (s.a.w) to obey only Him (Allah) and to follow the every revelation which Allah (swt) is giving him. The hypocrites and unbelievers wanted the Prophet (s.a.w) to renounce his prophethood and return to the ancient customs of the Arabs. But Allah firmly reveals His prophet not to obey these kind of people who have lost the path of righteousness. Allah becomes the main comfort of His prophet by reassuring him that his Allah is with him and thus, he (the Prophet — s.a.w) must trust His Allah and rely upon Him only in all matters; so that he may not fall into the traps of the unbelievers and hypocrites. Allah alone is sufficient for him over the rest of the world.

Furthermore it is in this Chapter itself that Allah honoured His Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) in such a way that he became a model for the whole mankind, especially for those who are true believers and love Allah and remember Him often.

“Verily, you have in the Prophet of Allah an excellent model, for him who hopes to meet Allah and the Last Day and who remembers Allah much.” (Ch. 33 Al Ahzaab, V.22)

It is in this Surah also that Allah gave the Mothers of the Believers the option of either getting the luxuries of this world. If so, then Allah commands His prophets to divorce them in a gentle manner, and to give them some material comforts and let them go. But if they choose to get Allah, His Messenger and the eternal goods of the Next World, then they have to bear patience in their restraint way of living along with the Holy Prophet (s.a.w), because the goods of the Next World will be forever.

Every wife of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) opted for Allah, His Messenger and the goods of the Next World.

It is in this Surah that Allah specifies that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) is the "Khatam-An-Nabiyyin" (Seal of the Prophets). Allah has honoured him in such a way and has humiliated his enemies! Praise be to Allah.

“Muhammad (s.a.w) is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets and Allah has full knowledge of all things.” (Ch. 33 Al-Ahzaab V.41)

While addressing the assistance, Allah's beloved Muhyi-ud-Din was made to understand the language of the birds which had come to accompany the members present in the Remembrance of Allah. The birds came down near where the Muhyi-ud-Din was speaking and it was to the great appreciation of the members that the birds was as if listening and then 'talking'. This Spiritual Gathering was further blessed with a mighty sign of Allah, whereby when the Muhyi-ud-Din finished reciting the following verse, where Allah says: "…THE COMMANDS OF ALLAH MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED", a strong gust of wind swirl above the assistance, shaking the big tree under which the members were sitting. During the Asr prayers, our brothers and sisters were blessed with the falling of a light and sweet rain which came along with the brightening sunlight.

All participants and the other members were very happy with the outcome of this special programme and especially with the unexpected but joyous outcome of this Essay Competition. The leading participants received special trophies, and all the others participants received gifts so as to encourage them further in practicing “Fastabiqoul Khairaat" (competition in good works). All the members were satisfied and happy because the Tafsir-é-Quran commentaries of the Hazrat Muhyi-ud-Din have helped them a lot in better understanding the Quran Shariff and our Deen-i-Islam. The programme ended with prayer, sweet cakes, refreshment and Mulaakat with the brothers present.

Insha-Allah other Essay Competitions on the aspects and teachings of Islam will be organised to enable our brothers and sisters to enrich their knowledge in every field of Dawa in the Deen-i-Islam.
