ON THE OCCASION OF JALSA SALANA

Friday 25 December 2009

(07 Muharram 1431 Hijri)

(Summary of Opening Speech)

After having greeted the honourable guests and members with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then he said:

It is a great pleasure to address you today Friday the 25th December 2009 on the occasion of our 2nd Official Jalsa Salana at National level. While other people may be merrying for Christmas and preparing themselves for the New Year festivities like I mentioned in my Friday Sermon (Khutba Jumu’ah) today, we, the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam and our honoured guests have gathered together as one body to celebrate the value of spirituality in the life of man.

God is omnipresent. He encompasses one and all. He alone sees our every action and knows our every intention. We are here today to praise together Allah the Almighty. I, as a Muslim refer to Allah – the Supreme God, for He alone do we Muslims worship; He alone is the Creator.

By God’s grace and mercy, He has enabled us to organise our program today in joy and humility. A Muslim should always be humble, devoted to Allah and to his fellowmen. The trust Allah has given him is his keep till Allah ask him of it. Thus, our life is a trust from Allah and our keep till He asks us of it for the final call. God has enabled us to be together today; praise be to Him, the Lord of the worlds.

People often talk about spirituality and about giving it its value. But do they really give it its value? Nowadays, people hanker after the pleasures of this world, leaving aside the worship of Allah and acting upon His commandments. The instructions of the prophets are trampled to dust, and immorality and innovations have slowly crept in all religions; and unfortunately even Islam. But one must bear in mind that religion is not at fault at all. It is the people in religion which spoils the beauty of its teachings, leaving it dull to the eyes of onlookers who want to know a little bit about religion, especially our religion: Islam.

Thus, the value of spirituality takes its root in oneself. When one contemplates oneself selflessly, and cares to look after his morals and character, forming them in such a way to match the commandments of God, then he will be able to know the value of his “inner me”, such a “me” which is priceless. A devoted servant of the Supreme God is bound to be afflicted in many ways, but his moral and spiritual values which he develops through the implementation of divine commandments helps him to conquer territories in the worst of battles.

One’s spirituality is bound to be either fruitful or fruitless. Fruitful will be for the one who associates not a partner to the Supreme God, and who does not at any time give preference to other things besides God. For example, when the time of prayer has come, the devoted servant of God will not hesitate to leave all his preoccupations and direct himself towards purification (through ablution – Wuzu) and afterwards concentrate on his daily prayers. The Muslim – the one, who completely submit himself to Almighty God, is called upon by Allah to direct his life towards obedience to Allah and obedience to His prophets. When His prophets come, they bring with them such teachings which are meant as a revival of the teachings of past prophets.

By the grace of Allah, more than 124,000 prophets have come since the creation of man, and the last law-bearing one is the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who has come with the Holy Quran; such a divinely revealed book which is in fact the reunification of all teachings of past prophets, such a perfect book which hides no commandments. It is an open book for the truth-seekers. O my brothers, sisters and friends – O mankind, this book has been revealed for you through revelations to the noble prophet of all times, Muhammad (peace be upon him). This book holds the solution to every problem, the cure for every malady, be it physical malady or spiritual malady. Man is ill. O my brothers, sisters and children, you are called for the revival of the teachings of the Holy Quran through the Holy Quran as a guide for all times. But whenever Allah deems it fit to teach mankind for the revival of His teachings, He sends along a Reviver of religion, a Messenger, a guide for you to lead you on the right path; such a path which will unfold before you the beauties of the Holy Quran, the beauty of Islam, the beauty of being submissive to God always.

True spirituality lies within a pure heart, such a heart which is not spiritually ill. Your selfless sacrifice for the cause of religion, for the cause of God can help you achieve such a high moral, leading you to Highest Spiritual inculcation. This is achieved through your personal efforts, and along with it, sincere prayers to Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

This Jalsa Salana organisation will further open your mind and heart through valuable discourses of our guests and brothers who I know personally have made every effort possible to bring forward such priceless advices which Insha-Allah be a boon for all of us in the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, and for all Muslims as a whole.

Islam is not to be separated. Muslims are not meant to be divided and against each other. Love is the essence of religion; Love is the essence of Islam. Islam is a religion of Peace and Love. Light is its attribute for it comes from the purity of worship of the One Lord, for Allah is Light and what comes from Him as pure and sincere is Light, and Insha-Allah shall remain Light. The appearance of this humble one as a Khalifa from Allah and a Muhyi-ud-Din Amir’ul Mominine has brought the Light of Allah to its peak through the revival of Islam. The Light was also an attribute of the Holy Prophet of Islam – Muhammad (peace be upon him). I have come as a harbinger of peace in the footsteps of my honourable master (spiritual guide) the Holy Prophet of Islam – Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). My appointment as Reviver of Faith and all honorific titles which I have received from Allah is linked with my obedience to Allah and His beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In that respect, all prophets, messengers and appointees who will come in the future from Allah shall be attached to the prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The Messenger of Allah’s spiritual value is measured in terms of his love for Allah and His beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). Allah will always talk, like He talked in the past and He talks even today to this humble one, He will always talk and give revelations which shall a means to guide people towards spirituality, towards His worship alone, not the worship of other divinities besides Him.

With these words, I end my speech for today, and I pray that Allah may bless this gathering, the story of which began in the times of the Promised Messiah Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (on him be peace). He was a devoted servant of Allah and a devoted disciple of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). May Allah be always happy with him; with the exceptional service he rendered Islam, in the capacity of Promised Messiah and Mahdi of his time. May Allah be happy with us also in this era, and enrich us for we are the followers of our beloved master Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and that of his beloved disciple Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (on him be peace). We are all servants of Allah, and our foremost duty is the worship of Allah and the spreading of His message.

O Allah, enable us to be of great service to Islam, for You have chosen us, weak as we are. You alone are our strength; You alone can couple our weaknesses with Your Mighty. We await You in us, as our inspiration, as our Ultimate Guide for the battle of between truth and untruth, between justice and injustice, between morality and immorality in this temporal world, in this era in which we are living. O Allah, in You we place our trust, in You we breathe in the essence of our Victory through Your Victory. Ameen…
