HAZRAT AMIR’UL MOMENEEN MUHYI-UD-DIN
AL KHALIFATULLAH

(18 Rabi’ ul Awwal 1431 Hijri)

(Summary of Friday Sermon)

After having greeted everybody with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then he said:

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا ۝

“Laqad kaana lakum fii Rasuulil-laahi uswatun hasanatul-liman kaana yarjullaaha wal yawmal aakhira wa zakarallaaha kasiiraa.”

Certainly you have in the Apostle of Allah an excellent model for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much. (Chapter 33 Verse 22)

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ ۝

“Wa maa arsalnaaka illa rahmatal-l-lil ‘aalameen”

And We have hot sent you but as a mercy to the worlds. (Chapter 21 Verse 108)

Today, I will continue to talk to on the excellent qualities which the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) possessed. He was known as “Loyal” and “Truthful”. He earned these titles from the people of Mecca because he used to live up to these qualities fully and with sincerity. He wished that other people may follow him in instilling into them these great qualities, for he considered loyalty to be the basis of all virtues, of all good and good conduct. He used to teach others that the loyal person is so confirmed in manifesting the truth that Allah Himself considers him to be truly loyal and sincere.

One day, a prisoner who was guilty of killing many Muslims was brought before him for judgement. Umar ibn Al-Khattab was also present, and thought that the man deserved to be sentenced to death for his crime, and thus, he kept watching the Prophet of Allah hoping that he would give the man the death sentence. When the Messenger of Allah let the man go, Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) indicated to the Prophet of Allah that he should have condemned the man to be put to death for this was the one punishment he deserved for his crime. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied him: “If that was the case, then why did you not kill the man?” Hazrat Umar gave the following reply: “O Messenger of Allah! If you had given a signal, even if it be by blinking, I would have done so.” Therefore the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) told him: “A prophet does not act ambiguously. How could I have sentenced him to death when my tongue was busy talking to him politely?” (Hisham)

Once a man came to see the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah! I have three vices: telling lies, drinking alcoholic drinks, and fornication. I did my best to be rid of these, but in vain. Can you tell me what must I do?” The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) told him: “If you make a solemn promise to me that you would abandon one of these, I give you the guarantee that you would be rid of the two other vices.” The man gave his promise and asked which of the three vices he must abandon. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) told him: “Abandon telling lies.” Sometimes later, the man came back and told the Messenger of Allah that he was now rid of all the three vices because of his advice. The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) told him to give him the details how he succeeded in his struggle. The man related: “One day, I wished to drink alcohol and was on the point of consuming it when I remembered the promise I gave you and I realised that if one of my friends asked me if I have drunk alcohol, I would have to admit the truth for I could not tell lies. This would give me a bad name among my friends and they would avoid me in the future. While thinking about this, I decided to drink later on another occasion and thus I succeeded in resisting the temptation of the moment. Likewise, I was tempted with fornication, and I told myself that if I let myself be tempted, I risk losing the esteem of my friends, for if they questioned me, I would either have to tell them a lie, thus breaking my promise made with you, or admit my sin. In this way, I continued my struggle between my resolution to keep my promise and my desire to consume alcohol and committing adultery. After some time, I lost the inclination for these vices, and my resolution to keep up my promise not to lie saved me from the other two other vices.”

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) always exhorted the Muslims not to manifest curiosity and to always think good on others. Hazrat Abu Hurairah narrated: “ The Messenger of Allah has said: “Avoid thinking bad of others, for this is the greatest of lies; do not be curious, do not give one another bad names with disdain, do not envy one another, and do not have bad sentiments for one another. May each of you consider himself to be the servant of God and he should treat others as his brothers, like Allah commanded.” Moreover he said: “Bear in mind that a Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. No Muslim must offend his brother, or abandon him in difficult moments, or must not be disdained because someone is less fortunate or does not have enough education, or anything else. Purity comes from the heart and if someone hates his brother, this is enough to blacken his heart. Each Muslim must consider inviolable and sacred the life, honour and belongings of another Muslim. Allah neither looks at your body, nor your attitudes, nor your exterior actions. He observes what your heart conceals.” (Muslim)

I hope that all Muslims do not listen to the words of those fanatic Mullahs who hail from Pakistan, especially the Jamaat Ahmadiyya; they should not trample to dust the teachings of Islam and I hope that the 5th Caliph of the Jamaat Ahmadiyya will also take this as a lesson not to fall prey to power-thirst people in the Jamaat Ahmadiyya who are ridiculing the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Sirat (Life and Character) of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not for some days only, but is for our whole lifetime. Insha-Allah.

I make a vibrant appeal to all Muslim Ministers and Parliament members of Mauritius to go and study the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and read this sermon throughout and put into practice the teachings read out (from the life of the Prophet of Allah), and not to be power-thirst. To obtain votes for the forthcoming election, you are ready to gather together with you the Muslims and fanatic Mullahs devoid of fear of Allah, and thus to be able to do that, you find only one solution: trampling upon the Ahmadi Muslims! But you think not how Allah can trample you tomorrow! I thus give you a severe warning about this. Neitehr your authority, nor power, nor money, nothing at all can avail you when Allah shall seize you if you continue to trample upon the fundamental rights of the Ahmadi Muslims of this country.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to take care to warn the Muslims against dishonesty in their works and transactions. Once, while in the market, he saw wheat which was displayed for sales. He plunged his hands in the heap and came to know that the wheat inside was humid. He asked for an explanation with the proprietor and the latter explained that sudden rainfall was the cause behind this. The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) told him that if that was the case, he should have left the humid part of the wheat at the top so that the eventual customers could see the real state of the wheat. He said: “One who does not do righteous transactions can never become a useful member of the community.” (Muslim)

O Muslim merchants! Take example from this Hadith; become true and honest Muslims who have love for Allah and His Messenger.

The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) used to be very strict when giving advices for the good running of a business; his main concern was that the transactions should not be disloyal but should be honest at all levels. He used to exhort the buyers to inspect the goods which they wanted to buy and forbade negotiations for a product if someone else was already negotiating to obtain it. He forbade also black market and advised that the market should be regularly filled with enough goods to maintain a reasonable price for one and all.

Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a brave man and liked bravery in all circumstances, especially in times when the Muslims had to defend themselves against their enemies. There was a time when rumours were circulating in Medina that the Romans were preparing a great attack against the Muslims. The Muslims were thus on alert all nights. One night, they heard a big noise coming from the desert. They rushed to the Mosque, leaving their homes and waited for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) so that he might give them instructions what to do. They then saw him coming from the desert, from where the noise came from. He was on his horse. They then learnt that the Prophet was the first to be alarmed upon hearing the noise and he then rushed to see what the matter was. He did not wait for the people to gather together to go and enquire. When he came back, he reassured his companions, telling them that there was nothing to worry and that they could go back to their respective homes to rest. (Bukhari)

If any prospective leader is to take the reign of a country, his best model would undeniably be the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). The prophet of Allah was not just an ideal and perfect leader, but the model of a true politician; unlike politicians whom we see nowadays who indulge in corruption, frauds, taking their country and country-men to the pits of hell.

His courage was a boost for his companions, his advices a light for their immediate and future well-being. His politics teaches equality, fairness, justice, courage, honesty, truthfulness, and politeness which earned him the title of King of Arabia, without him sitting physically on a throne to only command the people. His time was spent with the people, for the pleasure of Allah and for the people’s well-being. His reign as Leader and King was in his simplicity and love for simplicity. He hated arrogance, and stayed far away from it, inviting people to be humble and understanding towards their brothers.

He was the picture perfect portrait of the ideal man, without exaggeration. Yes, like any human he was weak, and committed mistakes but the perfection in him exceeded all of the minor weaknesses he naturally had. Allah blessed him for his efforts to come closer to him and took him as His beloved, the blessing for all mankind. What greater reward can a human ask, except that he gets Allah Himself as his beloved, his friend, his companion, his confident and Master? Allah was all these to His prophet and much more.

May the choicest blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad (peace be upon him) the servant of Allah and His Messenger in all humility, love and everlasting joy; and may this blessing be enjoyed by his companions, wives and children in Allah’s felicity always; forever. Ameen.

We have got the best example in our most noble prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Let our love for Allah and His prophet (peace be upon him) be our guide for a complete reform within us, which would bring about the love of Allah to touch us, and penetrate us all through and through, for the accomplishment of His work in this world and for us to obtain Insha-Allah His unlimited favours and love in the Hereafter. Ameen.
