Friday Sermon

HAZRAT KHALIFATULLAH AL-MASSIH AL-MA’UD

Munir Ahmad Azim

08 October 2010

(29 Shawwal 1431 Hijri)

(Summary of Friday Sermon)

After having greeted everybody with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then he said:

Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an:
“But nay, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you the judge of what is in dispute between them, then they shall find in themselves no dislike of that which you have decreed, and submit in full submission.” (4:66)
He also said: “Your Lord creates and choose what He wills; they have no choice whatsoever (in this matter). Exalted be He above what they associate with Him!” (28:69)

And He said: “Would man get what he expects, when to God belong this world and the other (world)?” (53:25-26)
Moreover, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), said: “Whoever is satisfied to have God as Lord, Islam as religion and Muhammad (peace be upon him) as Prophet has already tasted (the sweetness of) faith,” and he said also: “Worship God by showing that you are satisfied with what for He has decreed for you, if you cannot, know that there is a great benefit to endure what is unpleasant.”
Many other verses and Hadiths, similar in meaning, invite us to abandon explicitly or allusively forming plans and opposing fate. The knowledgeable among men also confirms this: “Whoever gives up ruling himself will be governed by someone other than himself.”
So if you absolutely must make plans for the future, plan not to make any project! Do not make any choice concerning you. Instead, choose not to choose, then give up that choice, then give up even this renunciation. Put everything in the hands of God, for your Lord creates what He wants, and it is Him who chooses.

I recited the verse above: “But nay, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you the judge of what is in dispute between them, then they shall find in themselves no dislike of that which you have decreed, and submit in full submission.” means that true faith is given only to the one who makes God and His Messenger judges of his life, both in his words and deeds, rejections and acceptances, friendships and enmities. But this abandonment to God’s will must be verified in the acceptance of religious duties as well as in the vicissitudes of time; in both cases in fact, the believer must submit to the divine decision. The requirements of God are the forbidden things and obligations that determine the gains of the servant; as for the decisions that fall under the divine management (tasrif) it is what He imposes on you against your will. It is clear that the acquisition of true faith is the necessary consequence of compliance with its (true faith) command and submission to its constraints.
In this verse God does not just only deny faith to the one who accepts neither God nor His Messenger as judges, nor even to one whom, while accepting the decision, feels a sense of injustice. He goes further, taking witness to this lack of faith the own Lord of Muhammad (peace be upon him), and thus out of respect and compassion for the prophet, He does not say: “By the Lord” but “By your Lord.” The meaning of the verse is reinforced by the oath on one hand and the other by the one who is called to witness.

Allah Almighty knows how much the man loves to talk, and how he wants to win, to have the upper hand on every occasion, be it by wrong or right means. This verse reflects the attention that God has for His messenger, because He endorsed the decision of the Prophet, and makes his decision His (the Lord’s decision). He also requires of His servants to submit to the ruling of His Prophet and obey His commands, accepting their faith in His divinity on only one condition!

This is because the Prophet is just like how his Lord described him: “He does not speak under the influence of passion; it is only a continuous inspiration.” His judgement is therefore the Judgement of God and his decision, the decision of God. Another verse comes to confirm this: “Those who do with you an oath of allegiance are actually doing it with God,” which is corroborated by the following: “the Hand of God is above their hands.”

In the verse before us, there is a further testimony to the greatness of the Prophet and the importance of his mission. When God said: “By your Lord, He intimately unites the possessive (meaning the Prophet) to his own person”, as in another verse: “Qaf Ha Ya Ain Sad. Here is the story of the mercy which thy Lord showed towards His servant Zachariah.” In this verse, in fact, God’s name is followed by that of the prophet, then he places the prophet Zachariah in the third position to inform His servants on the difference between the two stations and the distance that separates their respective ranks.

But God is not content with merely an acceptance of decisions other than those of the Prophet as proof of genuine faith. He adds to it an additional condition, the inner satisfaction at hearing the sentence, regardless of the party to which it gives reason.
The ego (al-nafs) deprived of light indeed experience discomfort in the presence of others; in this respect amidst the rest of people, because the light of faith has expanded their hearts that can now contain everything, by the light which the Most Wise (al-Alim), the One Who encompasses everything (al-Wasi) has conferred. Rescued by His sublime grace, they are willing to accept the decisions that God presents to them, submitting to Him when He breaks the course of events as well as when He takes them to their end.
Due to lack of time, Insha-Allah I will continue the topic of this sermon next week. At the same time, this sermon has a direct connection with what is happening today for it is an Eid Day which is being manifested in the south of India. For two weeks , our brothers and their families have shown a great interest to enter the fold of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam and to recognise and accept the Messiah and Khalifatullah of this age. Alhamdulillah.

These brothers, have nearly everyday been in contact with this humble self (the Khalifatullah) and they informed me that today they would be reuniting in the house of one of our brothers to perform the Jummah and take the Baiat and also to do the election of the office-bearers, Insha-Allah Ta’ala Al-Aziz.

This morning itself, they reunited for the Fajr prayers and duahs and here in Mauritius, when we were performing our Tahajjud and Fajr prayers and duahs, our brothers directly phone this humble self and talked to me to inform me which much enthusiasm that they would be taking the Bai’at after Jummah prayers. One of our brothers, Dr. Thahir would be conducting the election of the office bearers, Insha-Allah – our other brothers took the opportunity of this call also to address this humble self each in turn, and humbly asked asked me to make lots of prayers for them so that they may remain good disciples, in obeisance to the Khalifatullah till their last breath on earth, and that Insha-Allah, they remain deeply and firmly attached to the Divine Manifestation and make their level best pour spread the message to others who have not yet known of the existence of the Messiah, and also to those who despite knowing, but are afraid to accept this humble self due to persecutions.

May Allah remove from their path all their obstacle, and may the fear of Allah rule their hearts instead of fear of man, Insha-Allah. May Allah make my disciples of this age become Sahih Al ISLAM. Ameen, Summa Ameen, Ya Rabboul Aalameen.
