Friday Sermon

HAZRAT AMIR’UL MOMENEEN MUHYI-UD-DIN
AL KHALIFATULLAH

Munir Ahmad Azim

02 April 2010

(17 Rabi’ul Aakhir 1431 Hijri)

(Summary of Friday Sermon)

After having greeted everybody with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then he said:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
إِذَا السَّمَاء انشَقَّتْ
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

When the heaven bursts asunder, And hearkens unto her Lord – and this is incumbent upon her – And when the earth is spread out, And casts out all that is in her, and appears to become empty, And hearkens unto her Lord – and this is incumbent upon her – (Chapter 84 Al-Inshiqaq Verses 1-6)

This Surah is composed of 25 verses, and I have read the first five verses, today the 02 April 2010 (17 Rabi’ul Aakhir 1431 Hijra; of the Islamic Calendar, in the Bait-ul-Zikr of the North of Mauritius. Now, with the help and grace of Allah, I am going to enlighten the meanings of these 5 first verses of this Surah.

At the same time I am delivering a message to all my brothers, sisters, and children found in the Ummat of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to all my children who are studying the Holy Quran. Instead of reading other books of no value, if ever it is possible for you to study the Quran Shareef, so as to protect yourselves against the wrath and punishment of Allah. If really you know its value, then you will always seek knowledge from the Holy Quran and you will all pray to put all its commandments into practice. This should be better and beneficial for you in this world as well as in the afterlife.

This is an advice to all Muslims in the whole world and a message to humanity. I can voice out that HUMANITY IS IN DANGER and I am repeating it again – taking from 2003-2008, I delivered sermons on the same title “Humanity in Danger” and now after all these years I come back to the same appeal to remind you that humanity is indeed in danger – As long as you people do not attach yourselves firmly to the rope of Allah and do not turn your heart to Allah, and believe and obey His prophet and to all His Messengers He sends for your good welfare to lead you to Allah, then you shall face all sorts of misfortune shall befall you. When we look at a Rose, beautiful and perfumed, yet, it is surrounded by thorns on its stem. Likewise, the life of man is beautiful like the like of the Rose, but he has to face all sorts of thorns which are found in his path. A believer must at all cost remain patient et be firm regardless of the countless misfortunes; he must not attach himself to worldly attractions, for if he does so, he risks being drifted away from the favours and blessings of Allah.

At therefore it is at this particular moment, that he neglects the teachings of spirituality and cast away the teachings of our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who was a blessing for the whole universe and who has come for all people of the world to reform humanity – He did not come only for the Arabs, he brought back Islam which is not only for one religion, or one people or one man, or one sect but is a universal religion to preach peace and total submission to our unique Creator, Allah.

So let us come back to our verses of the Holy Quran – Allah says: “When the heaven bursts asunder”. What do you understand by this short verse?

Today the world is facing all sorts of calamities, and most of it comes from the sky. We find it in the form of cyclones, tornadoes, and manifestations of lightning which burst everywhere and takes the life of man. Moreover, when Allah manifests His wrath from the heavens, we see earthquakes manifest and takes away the lives of millions of people. We have the example that which had happened in the various countries of the world, and recently what has happened in Haiti and Chili. The world is contributing to repair all the destructions encountered, but can man repair to perfection that which Allah has decreed to destroy? All this is a warning, a lesson for man to detach himself from the attractions of this world and to adore only One God, his Creator, the One who has created the Heavens and Earth to perfection, whereby there is no fissure in the sky, and where Allah has made this sky a roof for the Earth, where man receives His favours, like rain which falls on earth and revives it. But when the wrath of Allah is manifested, He can make the same rain falls with such force that the earth cannot absorb all waters, and thus bringing about the formation of floods.

I must tell you that Mauritius also will not be spared from these calamities, if it goes overboard, going beyond all limits. Allah is restricting His wrath on Mauritius because therein is His Messenger, and as long as this humble one is present here, He shall protect it, but the moment He commands His Messenger to leave this place, this country, then Mauritius will be prey to all sorts of calamities which already menaced to befall it, like tsunamis, devastating cyclones etc. The politics of the government also has contributed to put Mauritius in such a state of decadence, and despite that Mauritius is the representation of all nations of the world, yet there are dissensions, hatred, and manifestation of jealousy where each sect takes pleasure and satisfaction in his own rulings, and they do not want to take a lesson from all the calamities which have seized the world.

Today, when people look at the manifestations taking place in the sky, they call it natural phenomena, or something which is a usual occurrence. Allah’s words “When the heaven bursts asunder” and in Mauritius we have witnessed all sorts of signs from the sky since the beginning of the Divine Manifestation, where they had been round rainbows (halo rainbows), electrical tempest, manifestation of both eclipse of the sun and the moon in the same month of Ramadan and yesterday after having done the recitation of the Holy Quran, Allah manifested His light. I did not tell that anybody; I did see this light several times while I was working on the Commentaries of the Holy Quran.

And you who are here in front of me today and you also have seen these divine manifestations, and T.V and newspapers also talked a lot about these. But when people who are attached to worldly entertainment, definitely they are standing only on one foot. And when you walk on only one foot, you lose equilibrium. Allah has gifted you with two feet so that you can stand firmly. This means that you must observe nature which is created by Allah. This sky also has been created by Allah. So this was a sign of Allah for humanity and especially for the people of Mauritius. And at the same time Allah is projecting His light announcing something that you do not pay heed to. And do not say that we are not seeing this light in the North (this light being both physical and also spiritual whereby Allah has sent His Chosen Messenger among you). All these are signs of Allah. Who are those who are going to think over these signs of Allah? They are those people whom Allah called “Ulul Albaab” – the most intelligent people who think and realise the signs and greatness of Allah, those who have fear of Allah in their hearts, the humble ones and those who consider the greatness of Allah about His creation; they are not intellectuals who are stripped of all true intelligence.

We must make people conscious of the state of the world – Nature and human beings – lest the punishment and wrath of Allah befall them. If we say this only on the lips, judgment becomes difficult, lack of observation of the universe of Allah, His creation, His favours and Grace. So, if we cannot recognise these blessings and we show ungratefulness towards Him, so how can we deliver the message? We should avoid routine-like activities.

Today is Friday. All Muslims around the world will go for Jummah prayers, they need to leave their work to attend the ceremony but what do we notice? The sermon lasts for about 10 to 15 minutes in Arabic (a language which we Mauritian hardly understand), then stand in prayers for 5 more minutes. Sometimes the sermon is in Urdu also, so people did not understand anything. They are only satisfied that they have attended Jummah prayers. That’s all!

Jummah prayers should be time allocated to our unique Creator, seeking His forgiveness and being repentant to Him. When attending Jummah Prayers we should understand the sermon delivered so as to reform ourselves, to refresh our memory and inject spirituality into our heart and soul. What we have learnt from this sermon will be beneficial for us and for our children – To bring a new spiritual generation. Reform is done gradually.

“When the heaven bursts asunder” – why does Allah apply the term “bursts asunder”? The first thing which Allah created was the heavens. It is mentioned in the Holy Quran “Look at this creation”. So all of you just look at the sky and consider its importance. The sky lies over our head without any pillar, beam. When, thunder and lightning blunder in the sky, you all say that it is natural.

Yes, in a sense it’s the right answer. It is natural because Allah has created nature. But you must recognise the favours of God behind it. You should know how to analyse nature and think about its creation. How the lightning occurs if we do not have a Creator.

I bring forward some Hadiths demonstrating how Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) had fear of Allah in his heart. The companions and his wife, Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) related that they saw his face turned pale with fear, a fear coming from the bottom of his heart, deep-rooted – He feared God terribly. This fear was shared by his close companions also.

So, if, we Muslims believe in only One God, and His Messenger (peace be upon him), even if we see one spark, we should have this fear of Allah in the heart. I will relate to you how and why Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) had great fear of Allah in his heart when the weather changed – He is the chief of all prophets, the “Khatam-An-Nabiyyine” – He is the chief of all prophets who passed away and the chief of all prophets who will come in the future also. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) had never closed the door of prophethood. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to honour the past prophets and others who will come after him. He was the most perfect model of all prophets. He himself set the best example in all his actions. Prophets should come from his Ummah to continue this noble work.

No prophet will come to proclaim himself as greater that Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and neither can he proclaim another new religion. They will come only to continue his work and not to bring another code of life (Holy Book).

Other future prophets should come from the Ummaté Muhammadiyya (peace be upon him). So if our Nabi-Kareem Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) had much fear of Allah on everything, so how can we declare everything in a light and natural tone?

Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) was worried when he saw the wind blowing.

Hazrat Aisha (r.a) reported:

“Whenever the wind blows violently, and the clouds thickens Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him)’s face turned pale and worried.” Why? He was very frightened as his heart was filled with the fear of Allah. He was restless, agitated, so Hazrat Aisha (r.a) asked him:

“O Rassoollullah (peace be upon him) why are you, so frightened and agitated?” Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not reply. He just recites this duah:

“O Allah! I beg of Thee the Good of this wind and the good of its disposition and its advantage. And I ask refuge in Thee from its evil and from the evil of its disposition and the disadvantages that it can cause.” Ameen

So let us understand the meaning of this duah of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) – A duah for the wind which is blowing carrying dark thick clouds. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) was restless, impatient, agitated and stressed in such weather. He recited the duah repeatedly.

Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) told him: “Ya Rassoollullah (peace be upon him), why are you so stressed when the weather changes? All people are happy as it announces rainfall?” Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied: “O Aisha, how can I be sure that this wind may not be announcing the wrath of Allah? The people of Ad were destroyed with that wind. They were also very happy when they saw dark thick clouds bringing heavy rain. They thought it to be good but in fact these clouds brought no rain but only total destruction of the people of Ad.” These same clouds destroyed them! At that moment Allah’s wrath has come without expectation.

Then Rassool-é-Kareem (peace be upon him) referred to the Holy Quran, Ch.46, Al Ahkaf in V.24-25 – Allah says: “Then when the people of Ad saw the punishment coming towards their valleys in the form of a cloud, they said, ‘This is a cloud which will give us rain.’ We said, ‘Nay, but it is that which you sought to hasten – a wind wherein is a grievous punishment. It will destroy everything by the command of its Lord.’ By morning there was nothing to be seen, except their dwellings. Thus do we requite the guilty people.”

Make it clear to you – Have some time to think about it – Open your eyes and ears otherwise you will lose these messages. So let us see the fear of God in the eyes of the best man of all creations of Allah, of our beloved Nabi Kareem, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Despite that clear verse of the Pure Holy Quran where Allah mentioned that He would not punish man as long as a prophet appears among them – (In Ch.8 An-Anfaal V.34)

So this is why our Nabi Kareem (peace be upon him) had so much fear of Allah when the weather changed abruptly. This reminded him of the punishment of the people of long ago. These people did not pay any heed to the words of Allah through His messengers of that time.

Now let’s us cast a glance at our heart! The fact is that we all are drowning in sins but these “natural” disasters, earthquakes, floods, cyclones, lightning, accidents, explosions etc. are of no effect in our heart. No one cares or fears the wrath of Allah. No one has the least fear of Allah in his heart.

Instead of repenting for our sins with Allah, or we pray fervently in this situation and seek protection from Allah against the punishments that may happen at any time, instead of turning our attention and heart to Allah, we do not care at all. We just say “it’s NATURAL” – So we must turn ourselves towards Allah, our Creator, we never know what can happen. A punishment may come at any time and in a fraction of a second we have to leave this world. We have to return back to our Creator just like that child when you sent him away for school in the morning. You expected him to be clean and not to be angry with him (when he comes back home).

So when we see the changing conditions of the weather, we must be ready to ask for forgiveness (Istigfaar). We offer some Rakaats of Namaz instead of engaging ourselves in foolish talks, or silly explanations which are not apt with Allah’s way of doing things as stated in the Holy Quran. Allah never punishes man without warning him through His Messenger.

When a Messenger proclaims himself, he usually comes with apparent signs in the whole world to show declination of religion – immorality – complete darkness – people left spirituality.

So these Hadiths reflects the words which our beloved Prophet had in the depth of his heart when he saw all these happenings. There were prayers he made in all situations, whether on days when there were heavy rainfall, severe droughts, and eclipses.

It’s very sad to see what is happening throughout the whole world. When a calamity happens in a country we cannot consider his religion or aqeedah as we have to look after others because we do not know what may happen to us in the future.

Allah is everyday manifesting His wrath, but man does not heed it. It is indeed unfortunate, unfortunate, that here in Mauritius people are hiding information. The world is prey to all sorts of calamities. I see that these calamities are impendent. A severe warning to Mauritius, if they continue in the path they are heading, if they continue hiding information, and especially that which is happening in Mauritius, where they are hindering people from knowing the truth, even though newspapers and private radios are doing their best to expose the truth, but they come at the front to deny these information, and they mask it in another way. Therefore they shall pay the consequences of their grievous acts. I see (3 times) this great calamity; like the Promised Messiah (on him be peace) said: “I thus see the earth prey to great earthquakes (calamities)…” I see these calamities, the situations that Mauritius and other countries shall face.

Allah has given this revelation: “They have trampled the divine manifestation to dust.” Thus, bear in mind that even little Mauritius will not be spared. A wind which is manifesting itself is thus bringing the words of Allah, where this voice shall Insha-Allah reach the four corners of Mauritius and the whole world.

AN APPEAL TO HUMANITY

I make an appeal today to the whole humanity that each of us should take into consideration of what is happening throughout the whole world and we must take much care with the work of religion – and attach ourselves more with Allah. We should ask forgiveness for our sins from time to time. Now, I make an appeal very precious to the whole humanity that if each of us has a small piece of land around our house, then we must cultivate and grow fruits and all kinds of vegetables. We must grow sweet potatoes, cassava, breadfruits, maize and other starchy foods as a basic meal. Nowadays people do not eat home food, they spend a lot of money in hotels, restaurants, snacks, and in bars – They can easily spend Rs. 3000 – 15,000 per dinner. Allah favours you with money so spend it as it requires. You don’t have enough control over your wealth. The same happen when you are honoured in this world – you forget Allah. You think that you have become God on earth. You think you possess everything – wealth and children.

Nowadays, we are facing with all sorts of food crisis – just like in China. Do you think now, will it look at its own people or other countries? This situation happened with India also. It promised to help others, but are you sure and certain that it will? Do you know the future – what disasters can it face? And what about Pakistan – what will happen to it? Disasters over disasters! Think over it. Do you think they all will sell rice with you or will they keep for their own people?

So, my dear ones, we must make a lot of savings – save our money, spend when necessary in only a “halaal” (permissible by Allah) way; and not in gambling or lottery. And we must cultivate spirituality in our mind and soul just like our body needs physical food to be strong and healthy. So is our soul – it needs spiritual food so as to strengthen our Islamic Imaan. So, this is a strict and serious appeal that I deliver today in this sermon.

Allah has given you the time required to repent and to worship only Him and to follow the perfect example of our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to read the Holy Quran. You all have discarded these spiritual values – You all believe that you are eternal in this temporary world.

Allah says in the Holy Quran that no one will escape from Him on the Day of Judgment. All of us have to account for our deeds in front of Him. No mother will have to account for her children and vice-versa.

This message is addressed to both – to all people (young and old) as well as all Governments. I repeat that HUMANITY IS IN DANGER! The world is facing with severe economical crisis – all these happen when people have turned their back to spirituality. If you insist on this track, definitely Allah’s wrath will speed up and then you will cry out bitterly: “Where is that saviour who has to come to dissipate the darkness we are in?” He is in front of you; He has already come to give you the message that HUMANITY IS IN DANGER, but you are playing the deaf ears. You do not want to hear him. Should you really get stricken with Allah’s punishment to believe unto him?

Now, if you reject this message, you turn your back ridiculing and making fun of it, I am very sorry for you as you have to account for that in front of Allah. Please, try to understand this sermon, step by step with fear of Allah in your heart. When do you find people prostrating for a longer time in prayers? When they face difficulties, when the problems are solved by the grace of the Almighty, he forgets everything and he stops worshipping – or praying fervently in his Sijda (prostration).

Do not become like these people. What we sow in this world will be reap in the afterlife. We must recognise the manifestation of Allah as a divine sign. We cannot say it is natural. Even when we see the rain falling, we must say that this happens by the grace of Allah. When we feel hot, we open our windows to allow in fresh air. We say Alhamdolillah (Praise and Glory to Allah). All things that we receive, we have to say that it is by the grace of Allah. Our honour and our life are found in the hands of Allah.

May Allah help us and makes us understand that we must have the fear of God (Taqwa) in our heart. We must recognise all the signs which are manifesting as divine signs. We must distinguish Allah’s wrath to natural phenomena. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) was very upset when the weather turned grey. He stood in long prayers and supplicated Allah to discard any wrong that might come this day.

We must all take great consideration in what has happened in Burma, China, Haiti, Chile, and the other countries. Today these countries are facing great disasters but we never know tomorrow which country will face the same, or even if the islands will be saved from these disasters.

If we follow these advices, we change our bad habits and practise only good deeds, we give our youngsters good education and instruction to spirituality, that is, worshipping Allah only, reading and studying the Holy Quran and showing decency and respect towards elders, definitely Allah will reward us in the best manner, both in this world and in the afterlife. Think over those words of Hazrat Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) when he saw a sheep which was grazing, he said: “O Allah, why was I not a grass, for it may be that in a blink of an eye, I can lose my faith.” We never ask for death but he had so much fear of Allah in his heart (lest he lose his faith if he stays in this world). What will he answer when one day he gets a call from Him, to return back to Him.

Think over this sermon of today before you make fun of it. I make this appeal again, that this message is very important for the whole world – an international crisis in all fields – at work, the development of the country etc.

Justice is not done properly. Do not think that Allah will not settle the matter. In the Holy Quran, He mentioned that He can never leave people without a Warner. I hope that you all will take this message into great consideration. The messenger is here, right in front of you.

It’s up to you to make up your mind – which way to choose – whether you turn your back or you reform yourself for a better life and establish firmly the fear of Allah in your heart. May Allah grant us this favour and opportunity. Insha’Allah – Ameen!
